Dr Monique Camacho is an ophthalmologist with a particular interest in providing holistic care and an endeavour to make her patients feel like family. She started her academic life as a zoologist and went on to graduate with a degree in medicine in 2010. Following a few years as a GP in private practice on the West Rand, Dr Camacho completed her
ophthalmology training through the University of the Witwatersrand and presented at a number of
congresses. She was awarded a distinction for her masters thesis.
Dr Camacho has a passion for cataract and corneal
surgery and she regularly participates in high-volume outreach programs. She looks forward to expanding her horizons within the Refractive Surgery Alliance Fellowship Program. Her other interests within
ophthalmology include glaucoma, surgical retina and oculoplastics.
Dr Camacho’s cup is filled by gardening, music and
entertaining family and friends on weekends. She looks forward to forming a strong partnership with medical practitioners and optometrists to ensure the best possible visual outcomes for her patients
