The safety and well-being of our patients and staff is our priority.
Patients and staff are required to follow strict protocols, as outlined below, including full-time mask wearing while in the building, Physical distancing, and stringent hand hygiene.
1.Patients and staff are screened daily upon arrival at the building by enquiring about symptoms and having their temperature taken.
2.All equipment, door handles, pens, countertops, tables, cell phones and other areas of contact that are touched by staff and patients is sanitised between each patient with 70% alcohol-based disinfectant or surfacide.
3.All staff sanitise their hands thoroughly after each patient.
4.Physical distancing measures of at least 1,5m are implemented: Unfortunately, no accompanying persons are permitted to come into the practice unless the patient is elderly or a child.
5.We are staggering bookings to ensure patients do not have to wait close together in the waiting area. If you come early, you will be asked to wait outside or in your car until the time of your consultation.
6.Longer consultations (new patients and 6-12 month follow-up patients) will be started by a telemedicine pre-consultation to ensure that we already have a plan prior to your arrival. This will ensure a short visit to the practice.
7.Reading material and anything non-essential has been removed from reception waiting area. Coffee will unfortunately not be served until restaurants open.
Ophthalmic surgery is unique and there are factors that lowers the risk of surgery:
1.Most procedures are performed under local anaesthesia
2.Most procedures are performed in a day hospital setting, without overnight or prolonged admission
3.Laser refractive surgery is performed in our own Laser theatre at the practice.
4.We operate at CORMED hospital which does not have an ICU
5.Many procedures are of short duration
It might be months, if not years before this pandemic has run its course and we may never return to what was ‘normal’. This is a fluid situation and we will make changes as necessary on an ongoing basis to protect our patience health and sight.
