The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the next best time is now. With laser vision correction the best time is when you are 18, but the next best time is now, if you want clear, effortless vision. This is assuming that you are a flawless candidate. Do what you love without the inconvenience of glasses and contacts.
18 – 45: Having LASIK at age 18 means that you will have good vision for the longest time possible and get the most improvement in quality of life. You will save the most on glasses and contact lenses.
45 – 60: Being 45 you might have been wearing glasses all your life or only recently started needing readers. You can have blended vision LASIK which should also eliminate the need for readers. This should be permanent until old age gives you cataracts.
55 and older: Somewhere between 55 and 65, old age will give you cataracts. You have another opportunity to get spectacle independence. Cataract surgery with a premium lens may correct your vision for all distances again.
