Myth: Recovering from LASIK takes long.
Fact: Most patients see clearly within 24 hours after LASIK, others may take 2- 5 days to recover.
The immediate recovery time for LASIK is usually around 6-12 hours. This is why we recommend that you go home and take a nap.
The day after your procedure you will see your surgeon again to assess your healing. Most patients are cleared to go back to work, but each patient is different.
Many patients already see an improvement the moment they leave the theatre room and can see details they could never see before having LASIK. Recovery is however an ongoing process, and it may take 3 to 6 months for your vision to fully stabilize. During this time you will have regular check-ups.
Most patients have 20/20 or better vision after LASIK. For younger patients healing is often faster.
